This Nativity set is handcrafted by women artisans in villages near Kitui, Kenya. Through training and education, these women have learned the skill of recycling dried banana fiber, which would otherwise be discarded.

1️⃣ The banana fiber is dried and then treated with a light varnish, giving it a rich, tortoise-shell-like texture.
2️⃣ Once dried, artisans cut the fiber into strips and carefully shape each piece to create a one-of-a-kind Nativity scene.
