These hand-painted candles are created by NOBUNTO, a South African Fair Trade company that specializes in handmade candles, ceramics, and greeting cards. Based in the small village of Napier, about 180 km east of Cape Town, NOBUNTO was founded to provide economic opportunities and alleviate poverty in a region where unemployment reaches 50%.

By employing mostly women from disadvantaged communities, NOBUNTO ensures stable incomes for over 18 families. The name "NOBUNTO" is derived from the Sotho language, meaning "For the People," reflecting their commitment to social, ethical, and sustainable responsibility.
